Sunday Church Basketball

We played at Amal International School again from 2:30 to 6:30.
I had a bad muscular ache (especially my legs hurt so much) from Korean Reunion Sports Competition. To play basketball and use muscles was really good for me to relieve the pain since the pain was from that I used it abruptly. Now, the pain has been abated and I'm feeling much better.

I had found a problem with my lay-ups while I was playing. I put too much power in it when I lay the ball up in the basket where I'm meant to be relaxed and literally 'lay-up' the ball softly.

So, I worked hard to correct my stance and to relax myself from the pressure that I have to score. It actually worked very well; I found myself more comfortable laying up rather than taking a shoot either at the three point line or within it.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to take the photos of me playing due to running out of my camera battery. I wish I can take some pictures next time and have a good match like usual.

Bass Guitar

Today, I learned some variations of the rock n' roll bass line.

I found a big problem with my fingering while I was playing; I am meant to be fingering with the tip of my fingers since it sounds better when I place them correctly, however, I found that I wasn't. I had a bad fingering habit needed to be corrected to make the sounds better and more clear.
I decided to do more chromatic practice to correct myself.

Korean Reunion(Sports competition)

We had a Korean Reunion today at the Police Park on Havelock road; it was, in fact, the sports competition like mini-Olympic, which was held by the Korean Church, where all the Koreans living in Sri Lanka were all invited. It's been 10 years Korean church haven't had a reunion and as so, it indeed means something that we had a mini-Olympic to strengthen the unity in Korean society and to get to know each other better.
We divided ourselves into two teams and played various different sports such as basketball, football, relay races, tug-of-war and so on. It was from 8:30 in the morning to 5:45 PM.

I was participated in basketball, football, 100m relays and tug-of-war. I also helped people, especially little children, with guide or demonstration of how to play the certain game.
I got sun burnt pretty badly and it hurts now, but it was really fun to play with many other Koreans and to get to know them.

Sunday Church Basketball

We played basketball again :D
All the exams are done in every school and as so, many came to play today, especially many from British International School. We played as many matches as we could. It was really fun with many others.
Apparently, they played with our school basketball team yesterday. I wished I could! I didn't know and I had MUN workshop till 2 that I couldn't. I hope I can play with them later.

MUN workshop

I had the MUN workshop from 9:30 AM to 2:15 PM on Saturday (23rd of January, 2010). As so, I couldn't have bass guitar class which is from 11:00 till 12:00.

I had four different sections which helped me understand the basics of being a MUN delegate such as writing a resolution, public speaking and the general regulations. It was really long.... and really helpful. It was really good to make new friends from other international school while I didn't make so many, but still I made some. Besides, I didn't really know what to do before the workshop, but now I have a brief idea. We will have a practice debate soon, I wish I can learn a lot from there.

Math Tutoring

After school, we had class again in the library.
He will have a math test soon that we revised the chapter one by one.
He got confused with when to multiply and add the probabilities. So I tried to explain it in a simple way; I hope he understood it. He promised me that he would get a 6 at least :P Hope he will make his promise.

Sunday Church Basketball

We played at Amal International School again. (from 2:30 to 7:00)
MOCK exam is not finished yet that many haven't come either.
But still 14 of us came this time that we played several matches ourselves. Then, the court was booked for another local group that we had to leave it for them.
BUT we couldn't just leave; we were really eager to play basketball more that we asked them to play with us. We played a match with them. They were really good; they seemed to be playing together pretty long that their teamwork was remarkably good compared to us since we haven't played together so long. It was a bit challenging but really fun at the same time.
I had leave a little bit earlier than others since my father came to pick me up.

Bass Guitar Class

I had bass tuition today after so long. I have been practicing what I have learned so far, but I was almost tired of same chord progression and same stuff.
Today, I learned the Rock bass line and variation. I have learned the simple bass line before, today, we more did the variation; I played the bass line while my tutor played solo with his acoustic guitar. It's something new and exciting.

Math Tutoring

Finally, we had math class after so long (it was Tuesday, 12th January, 2010). Sadly, he couldn't make the Boys SAISA football team that he didn't have to practice anymore. Hope he is not frustrated, but ok with it; he can't play football in the team but he can do math with me! It may be not a big pleasure for him though.

ANYWAY
He is still doing Probability in his math class since they couldn't finish the chapter before break. He is now learning how to draw Tree Diagram to solve the questions. I know it's a painful work to draw tree diagram since I have to draw and show all the possibilities in any occasions and it takes pretty a lot of time. BUT STILL, it's the best way to understand the chapter and it's easier to see the probabilities once I have done drawing.
Yet, he seemed to be doing fine with this chapter. Only sometimes, he is confused with when to multiply or add the possibilities. We'll see how it goes after all.

Sunday Church Basketball

We played at the Amal International School again last Sunday, 10th of January 2010, from 3 till 6:30. This time, not many people came to play; I guess that's because many of them have the MOCK exam as they started the new semester. Anyway, nine of us came this time that we played as many matches as we could and it was fun.

My friend told me that he talked to Remor who's in 12th grade in our school and currently the captain of the OSC SAISA basketball team to play a match with us. I hope we can play soon. :)

Bass Guitar Class

My tutor was sick last Saturday,9th of January 2010, that we couldn't have class last week again. But I practiced myself what I learned last time.
Also, I've been practicing some songs, Around the world by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Hysteria by Muse. Both of the songs are pretty well known for their fast and awesome bass intro which fascinated me as well that I decided to practice. I'm now almost able to play the whole songs, but still need to make sure with the fingers and not to lose my beat while playing.

Sunday Church Basketball

From last week(27th of December, 2009), we started playing basketball again. It was canceled because of rain. However, it didn't rain this week(3rd of January,2010) that we could play properly.
We changed the place from this year since the manager of the old place didn't allow us to play there anymore with a stupid reason saying his school basketball team is playing poorly these days because of us. That didn't make sense, but anyway we can't play there anymore even though we have paid for playing there. So we now play at the Amal International school court which is another local international school in Sri Lanka.
It has been a while we haven't played together; I felt we lost some acumen sense of how to play the ball. Besides, since we haven't palyed it for so long, we got tired very easily. It was extremely exhausting, but it was really fun.
I better practice more to fit myself to play best.

Bass Guitar (canceled)

My tutor, Derek, went on the business trip that we couldn't have class last week, 2nd of January, 2010.
