Prison Babies

We had the prison babies at our school today(29th of April, 2010). I missed the last week's because of SAISA Track, so this has been a while I have seen them. Many of them seemed that they are getting familiar with us and FOR THE FIRST TIME they didn't cry throughout the whole session ! We played at the Primary Field and we had A LOT OF fun together. Unfortunately, this was the second last meeting we will ever have before the end of the semester. I hope we can do something special and unforgettable for them next week.

SAISA Track and Field (21st April - 25th April)

Finally, Geckos have arrived in Dhaka for the SAISA Track and Field competition. This year, eight international schools in total have come joined this event from many countries like India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Since more schools have come this year, there were more athletes participants this time; many GOOD athletes.

In summary, our team didn't do so well than we aimed; especially 15 and over boys group, where I belong to, did really bad this year. Many NEW and GOOD athletes have joined this year, and they were extremely good and placed in every events they did. As so, our school members couldn't really place in anything. I came in 7th and 8th in my shot put and discuss which was really close, anyway no medals :P and came in 10th? 12th? in 100m and 200m dash.

This year, all new boys and the boys who came up from the 13-14 age group were fast that I had no chance of winning any of running events.15+ age group placed in 4 X 100m and 4 X 400m, but not many of us gained any points from any of individual events. Filippo came in 6th in discuss and I came in 5th in the long jump. and that was it. so overall, we came in second last in our age group. STILL, we worked as hard we could and we have no regret. As the matter of fact this would be my last SAISA, since we are not having SAISA Boys basketball at our school, but SAISA girls football, I kinda wanted to do better, but still we had fun. I hope next year our team will do MUCH better for me !

Sunday Church Basketball (canceled)

I didn't go play basketball today(18th of April, 2010) because I have math and physics tests coming up. Besides, I have to leave for Dhaka coming Tuesday night and I'm afraid of getting injured so decided to stay at home and work on my math and physics :D

I hope I can play next week!

Bass Guitar

Again, after Track practice, I went for the Bass guitar class.
Today, I learned the bass line of the song, Hotel California. I tried this song before all alone, but it was somewhat different today. All I did before was just to play the simple notes on a right beat. But what I learned today was a bit different. Like there's a certain way of playing a certain song, I learned just one way of playing a bass line of the song. I don't know how it works yet, but it sounds pretty nice. I will practice it over and over and maybe I can play it with my father later.

SAISA Track Practice(during April Break)

We have a week long April break from 10th of April through 17th of April. It'd be really bad if we just rest at home, it'd be pointless of training for last several weeks. So during the spring break, Ms. Sriyani's husband told us to help with training, so that we can keep ourselves fit.
It was on 10th, 12th, 16th and 17th.

On 10th, Saturday, only six of all came; John, Muzna, Megan and a friend of her, Camie, and me. We warmed up and individually worked on our own events. Everyone, but Muzna, is doing sprint so we worked on the 30m, 60m and 80m sprint several times while Muzna worked on the distance.

On 12th, Monday, many of the 13-14 boys/girls haven't come since all of them have left the country for the holidays. So it was only, Muzna(only 13-14 girl), Camie, Mo, Nikhita, Han wool and me. Again, we worked on our own running events and long jump. I kept getting my strides wrong while I was jumping. I had to measure the distance again and again. Finally, I did one good jump, but wasn't so satisfying. I thought I would work on it more next time.

On 16th, Saturday, pretty many have come. Camie, Nikhita, Muzna and me as usual and also Han wool, Corien, Megan, Damien(just to watch) and my brother. We started with long jump on Saturday unlike usual.(oh of course after warm-up) Since I corrected my strides last time, it was easier to jump for me. Also, I was less tired than usual since this time I haven't run before jumping. I overstepped pretty many times, but it was just a little bit over. I believe I can correct that later easily by just adjusting the distance little bit. Then, we worked on the running; we did five 60m dashes. OH! Nikhita brought her camera on Saturday that we had fun taking photos of us practicing as well. We used them to see what we were doing wrong and we MAY use them to make the presentation later on for the school Assembly.

My brother Power Scissor kick Jump

On 17th, Saturday, we had the last practice before the school starts. Nikhita, Muzna, Shanti, Megan, Hanwool, Young seok, Ali and I have come for the practice. I only worked on the long jump that day while Ali, Hanwool, Muzna, Shanti and Megan worked on their distance. I tried to explode my power at once when I take off for jump, but I kept doing something wrong and couldn't really jump further. I injured my ankle before while I was jumping, so I stopped after I did around 20 jumps. I felt it'd be too much. I have two more official practices left before we leave for Dhaka. I wish I can fix what I'm doing wrong and improve on my jumping.

Sunday Church Basketball

Today, finally we had our team uniform back from the place where we ordered to make them and we could have played several matches with our uniforms on ! It felt really cool playing basketball with our OWN uniforms on; it looked much cooler and organized with our uniforms on as well!I was a bit of afraid of getting any more injuries which may cause some problems with my TRACK. Well.. I'm not 100% well, not completely cured from the injuries yet. so I played not so harsh today. Today, I played with my new shoes on as well and that actually took a bit of my skin off :S So I couldn't really play properly. It was fun though! I wish I can do better next time.

Bass

After so long, I had a bass guitar class. Due to Track practice, I haven't been able to take the class, but today's session ended earlier than before that I was able to go and make it. Today, I refreshed my mind with Derek and we did the rock n' roll bass line with many other variation. I worked on it while my father was learning the rock n' roll guitar line. I wish to ROCK n' ROLL with my father soon !
By the way, my father needed to record the video of him playing rock n' roll on his guitar so that he can watch it later and practice. So I could have taken the pictures of me with him for the first time.

SAISA Track Practice

So this week(5th - 10th of April) was the last week before the April break and we mostly worked on our own events to improve. I worked on the 100 and 200m sprint mostly; especially I worked on the speed endurance by interval training with Mr. Gresham, one of the parents who coached our team for last months. I found myself almost dead once I finished the interval training; I seriously need to work on my endurance.
Officially, Friday was the last practice before break. Ms. Sriyani, who is one of the coaches, told us that her husband will come to our school and have a practice session during the holidays, where Saturday was the first day. So I went for the practice with her husband and we worked on the sprint and long jump. I kept getting my strides wrong while doing long jump. I may need to fix it before I leave.

Prison Babies(canceled)

We had no prison babies coming to our campus last week (1st of April). So instead, we had a planning session and the blog update session. Hope we can have them here in our school next week.

SAISA Track Practice

So this week(29th March - 3rd April), our team worked on sprint and distance mostly.
However, I injured my leg from basketball last week, I couldn't do any of those, but some field events like discuss and shot put. I could barely walk on Tuesday, so I couldn't even do the practice , but just watched the team working on their events. On Wednesday morning, I felt better but still couldn't sprint so I just jogged around the labs to stretch my leg.
It didn't really work though. My leg hurts more after that and still. And on Friday, I worked on my field event, discuss and shotput. Since my leg is injured badly, it was hard to balance myself and I kept stepping over and going out of the discuss line or aimed wrong. But I tried something new this time. I usually took 3-4 swings before I throw as a warm up, but then I felt I get too tired doing that. So I thought it'd be better if I throw it at once and explode my power into it. I could throw further, but the aim was the problem. I WANT TO believe that I can't aim because I can't balance myself with the injured leg. Hope I will get well soon.
On Saturday, our team worked on the sprint and distance. I couldn't do anything at first. But gradually my leg was getting better, so I worked on the sprint starting and the long jump. I'm not 100% recovered yet, so I tried to loosen my tense and stretch my leg more.
This Saturday practice was the last Saturday practice we will ever have since we are off for April break next week. I will stretch my leg well and keep me fit so that I don't fall behind.
