2010 Dangsandong Church Mission Trip

We've met up and been practicing for last few weeks(every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) for the trip and we have all learned and mastered the worship dance ! We are not really satisfied with the look, so we keep practicing and fixing the gestures little by little so that it'd look better as a whole. Only 4 days left to go onto the trip, so we are pushing ourselves a little bit harsher.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make today's practice(Wednesday, 28th of July, 2010) because I caught the cold :S I lied ill since last night and couldn't really move out of the bed till this morning while I had the practice in the morning :(
I have the last practice on Friday and the team from Korea is coming on Sunday, so I hope I can make the last one.

It's really exciting and I'm looking forward to going on this trip. well, I'm actually somewhat worried because school starts right after this trip and I've got a lot of works to get done :S BUT I will do them. soon enough :P

2010 Dangsandong Church Mission Trip

We've met up and practiced last Friday and Sunday (16th and 18th of July, 2010) and today (Monday, 19th of July)
Amazingly, our group could have managed to learn and master the dance by today. I was, in fact, worried at first since the dance looked so hard and complicated. BUT, it was a piece of cake :D:D

We will have to make it look a bit more organized so that it'd really look like one group ( at the moment, it rather looks like individuals) Then we shall be done ! :D

Sunday Church Basketball

We've been playing basketball with some Americans who work for the American Embassy since we have connections through the Korean-Americans who work for the American embassy and come to our church. And so our group was invited to the BBQ part at the resting place for the American Embassy people yesterday (Sunday, 18th July, 2010).

Well, we didn't really come for the BBQ party, but for the basketball match. There was a basketball half court in the place, so we played together. It was fun, but somewhat sad because it was a farewell party for our Korean-American friends and so that was the last match with them.

We still have connections with them since others who are staying like to play with us (seems like they were also bored, and so looking for places and players), we will continually play with them from time to time.

2010 Dangsandong Church Mission Trip

Every year, a group of people from the Korean Dangsandong Churchcomes to Sri Lanka for a missionary trip. So basically what they do is to prepare for the divine service, recreation, and some studying session with the children to preach them, and go around the local churches here and do them together with the local children. Traditionally, our Korean church in Sri Lanka has been helping them with it; we gather a group of teenagers to help them with the language and in any ways where they need helps.
From last year, some people from the Japanese churches are coming with them as well.

I've been to this trip the year before, but couldn't make it last year. This year, I was able to join them again and help them. What WE also do, is to perform a short dance which we call it the worship dance where we dance to the Contemporary Christian Music (CCM), or/and perform a short skit where it has an important lesson we want to give the children. My initial goal would be to help the mission team well and the children at the local churches, and also to become more mature Christian. This would be my second and last mission trip in Sri Lanka, I believe, since it's the second time, I want to do better than before and I want to do my best since it's the last one.

I believe this is another step forward to my ultimate goal, which I have set when I started learning bass guitar, to travel around the world with my father and do the missionary works. This is going to be loooooooong time later in my life, in fact, but I believe it's better to start getting warm and ready for it from now on.

This year, our group decided to do two worship dances, not the play since we may need the lighting and music at background IF we do a play, which we can't have at the local churches.

So we just had the first practice today (Wednesday, 14th of July, 2010). About 13 of us volunteered to join this mission trip, and showed up today. Since we are doing the two dances, we divided ourselves into two group to do the practices; one of 7 people and the other of 6. The group that I'm belonging to learned the first 30 seconds long intro part for three hours :S (This briefly suggests how hard it was :S:S:S, or how bad we are :P) It was fun though. I hope we can learn them with no problems and will do well on the trip :D

Sunday Church Basketball

I've played basketball the week before(Sunday, 4th of July, 2010) after so long! I haven't been exercising AT ALL since SAISA Track was done, so I seriously felt the need to do some exercise. It was, in fact, the last basketball match for some of my friends because they have graduated from their high schools and planned to go back to Korea or go to University. It was the last match for a while for all of us as well since all the International School officially went on their vacation and almost all of my friends are going back to Korea for this summer to do some extra studies or just to visit their relatives'.
So this was really good; nice exercise and farewell.
